Mr. Gervais has been involved with emergency
services in some form for over 20 years. His
range and variety of experience includes,
serving as a volunteer firefighter and paid
firefighter/hazardous material technician in
Lafayette, LA, emergency medical supervisor,
public safety communications coordinator,
consultant, disaster recovery manager,
professor, and program coordinator.
Mr. Gervais participates in curriculum and
course development (web-based;
conventional), and teaches introductory and
advanced courses in fire science, forensic
science, emergency management, environmental
and safety, and information systems.

Mr. Wood has a comprehensive background from
the various fields of fire and emergency
services, law enforcement and military.
He currently holds the position of
Training Officer in the Baton Rouge Fire
Department where he has been a career
firefighter since 2001.
He is also a volunteer with the Fire
Protection District #1 of
West Feliciana where he holds
the rank of Fire Captain/EMT-B.
Mr. Wood has served in the U.S. Coast
Guard Reserve since 1998, where he holds the
rank of Chief Petty Officer.
Mr. Wood also holds a position with
the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office
Special Operations Division as a maritime
operations instructor and a SWAT team
member.
His background includes fire
suppression operations, rescue, management
of HAZMAT response incidents, humanitarian
relief efforts, homeland security/defense
operations, regulatory inspection, law
enforcement operations and maritime search
and rescue.
